It used to be when you heard the word "garden", you thought only of tomatoes, green beans and corn. These days, people take gardens more seriously and make them more of a personal reflection of themselves.
I myself used to plant rows of stuff in hopes that I would get enough to can or freeze for the winter. Most of the time, the critters ate a lot before I could get to it.
It frankly was just an exercise in frustration. For one summer, I told my husband to just forget it. I didn't want to deal with the weeding, the rabbits, the deer, etc.
However, I found that I missed gardening somewhat when I didn't have it. I decided to try to figure out how I could make it more pleasurable and relaxing for me. I started looking at some garden photos online and figured that I would make my garden a place of peace and someplace I would enjoy spending time in.
I started by putting a design on paper. I added some paver stones, a little shed for supplies, and then added some nice decorations. My garden is about 200 yards from my house, so it was important for me to have everything close by when I am gardening, rather than having to haul stuff every time from the garage.
My friends told me I should post photos and write about my experience. Well, I didn't get the photos this year and now it's winter. Now that I'm kind of stuck inside, I'm finding the time to write about it. I'll be sure to get nice photos next spring.
